This BougeRV battery powered fan has great airflow for its size. I’ve used it indoors and poolside, and I'm amazed by how powerful it is.
The removable battery lasts a long time (roughly 3 days), and I like that you can swap it if needed. The tilt adjustment makes it easy to aim, and the light and USB port are useful for camping, the garage, or power outages.
The overall quality is excellent. It seems to be thoughtfully designed and well-made, and the metal hooks are nice for hanging. It feels more like a tool than just a fan. It's perfect for hot weather and air circulation. I also like that the battery can be used with other BougeRV items such as the coffee maker.
This is not your wimpy camping fan. It's big, as you can see from my photo of it sitting beside my Bluetti AC180 (which is quite large). The battery that runs it is larger than both my 20V and 40V Black and Decker yard tool batteries; like those batteries, this fan's battery has the four-light state-of-charge indicators you can turn on and off with a button. It is, of course, proprietary, and I have no idea if any other batteries on the market would fit the fan.
I was going to test to see if you could charge the battery at the same time you are powering the fan, but you cannot because the PD port is covered up when the battery is plugged into the fan. For completely uninterrupted down time during power failures, you'd need to recharge the battery off solar energy captured during the day, and that can take time. I'm not sure how long it took to charge the battery when I first got it; it was at one-light state-of-charge when I left the house for NK3 and was fully charged when I got back home about five hours later.
I really like that the battery charges via a USB-C PD port (45W max) and not an AC brick because you can hook it up to a smaller solar-chargeable power station and not have to depend on an AC-outlet-equipped inverter or solar generator. The BougeRV battery is 18V and has 144 watt hours of storage capacity. It plugs into the bottom back of the fan, lending it weight and stability.
The fan itself is made of plastic, which makes it lighter but also avoids the problem of having to ground it. A serviceable carrying handle is built into the top, but it feels a bit flimsy, like it might break if you put too much weight on it. I'm not sure what the metal arms with hooks in the back are designed to hook onto, but they give you an additional means of anchoring the fan down.
If you need lighting, this fan has that, too (and lots of it), although I'd be inclined to use something else for lighting if we were in a grid-down situation in order to extend the time the fan itself can run without recharging it. I keep containers of water (like you see in front of the fan in my photo) frozen so we can blow a fan across it for cooling should the grid go down and the AC stop working in our Zone 8b heat. That could be the difference between life and death for us old folks, so having this fan as part of our emergency survival kit is very reassuring.
This BougeRV Battery Powered Fan works great. It has strong airflow at 755CFM (21.38 m3/min). It definitely makes a difference. The Fan can be manually rotated 210° and has two reinforced metal hooks so it can be hung up. The fan uses a 8Ah rechargeable, removable battery. The battery has a long life at 72 hours, we haven't run it straight that long, but seems to hold its battery life in line with that. It can also be charged via the included AC adapter too. It has a light on the front with two different level settings. It also has a USB port to charge my phone. We have taken this fan camping with us - worked out great. Works well too when I am working outdoors or in my garage / workshop too. The fan is well built and tough - not flimsy at all- great quality and value.
The BougeRV portable fan is great for camping, inside the RV or tent. It sits on the table and the fan can be tilted up or down. The pull out hooks on the back will allow the fan to be hung up which is really nice for saving space. The fan speed is adjustable with the dial on the front. The fan puts out quite a bit of air. I have been running the fan since we are experiencing a heat wave in the middle of March and the fan is working great, the adjustable fan speed is doing a great job to move air and make the temperatures more comfortable. This fan can be operated either by ac or rechargeable battery. The battery is large, 8Ah. The battery takes several hours to charge from 0. The listing states the battery will run for 72 hours but I did not test it for that long. I did run it for 8 hours on medium after fully charging the battery. After 8 hours the battery indicator was at 75%. The fan does have usb ports on the front for charging extras like a phone. The fan also has a light on the front with 2 settings, high and low with push button on the front. The color of the light is light orange and gives off enough light inside the RV or a tent like a night light. The fan is light weight and very portable. I have operated the fan during the day and disconnect the battery for charging over night. I plug the battery via charging cable to my solar power station. The fan if operating by ac from my power station pulls 17 watts on high speed so not bad. Overall I like the fan, it can be used anywhere in the house or on the road. It doesn't use much energy on ac. The battery is big and last a long time. I could also see this fan working during the winter to circulate warm air from the wood stove if placed nearby or hung up. I will definitely be using this fan during the hot season which has already started.
Much bigger than expected… almost unusable because of the size. However, considering the size of the battery—hopefully it will work efficiently to cool down a larger space (such as an RV). I was hoping to bring this camping (and use it for the tent), but due to the size of it, I will keep it home.
